Colgate traces its roots back to 1806, when William Colgate started a small soap and candle business in New York City. The brand began selling toothpaste in jars in 1873, introduced the collapsible toothpaste tube in 1896, and in 1930 became the first brand to receive the American Dental Association's Seal of Approval. Milestones such as MFP Fluoride, Colgate Total, and the Colgate 360º toothbrush followed. Today, Colgate is a global leader in oral health, available in more than 200 countries and territories, and guided by the belief that everyone deserves a future to smile about.
